What else can I say....
Fort Lauderdale to Cincinnati
The Tiki bar is now open….Boat Drinks are now being served….
It’s been awhile so let’s get it on…. Cincinnati beat Pittsburg. Let’s just get that out of the way. It has been a crazy month with visitors, traveling, and the month is not over.
Labor Day weekend, the ladies from Kentucky and Ohio made their way down. It was so good to see Bridgett. I finally got to meet Kerstin. She lives in Fort Lauderdale and is one serious “Who Dey” lady. Her car proudly wears our Bengal stripes.
Friday night, we were all set to head out to dinner and watch the Bengals play Indy. However, we could not locate a place carrying the game. We ate dinner right on the inter-coastal water way. The food was great and drinks were flowing. Most of the ladies had their Bengals attire on and were wearing it proudly. They looked stunning….We decided to make a pit stop at the Elbo Room. God I love that bar. We enjoyed some good music and kick up some dancing on the second level. Had to be there….
Saturday, Mac came over and we headed out to the beach and hit a few bars. The ladies were staying in for the evening. Friday was a long day for them and we had plans to go snorkeling on Sunday morning. Mac and I headed back to Hollywood. Had some dinner and a few more cocktails and called it an evening.
Sunday morning we jumped on a boat and hit the ocean. I was not aware there is a reef about ½ mile of the coast of Fort Lauderdale Beach. It was so close you could see the Elbo Room. Mac and I brought some food and plenty of beers. The water was really clear and we were only in about 10-15 feet of water. There was lots of fish because the captain would throw out bread into the ocean. It was amazing to watch the fish go crazy.
We got off the boat and walked up to the beach. We stopped and got some more food and filled the coolers. The sky looking west looked mean and angry and we were sitting in some beautiful sunshine. The ladies headed out after a few hours so they could go get ready for the evening. We headed to the bar and kicked it hard that evening. The band finally kicked up and lots of dancing. Who bought all the shots at the bar???? There must have been 12 shots lined up. Quite impressive. Time to head home. Jumped in the cab and back to Hollywood.
The great State of Indiana, Oktoberfest Cincinnati, and a Bengals win over the Browns.
What else more can I say…. It started off rough. I was sitting on the tarmac of the Fort
Lauderdale International airport. My flight is being delayed due to bad weather. I was suppose to get in by 8:15 PM. Landed in the Great State of Kentucky at 9:15 PM. The Fat Man picked me up and off to the boat we go. It was crowded and we had some good hits. Ok, the Fat Man did. Thank goodness for the pinky rule was in effect. I held my own but the Fat Man came out the winner. We stayed until about 4 AM. Got home around 5 AM. Woke up to a young child around 8 AM. Good night sleep. My father picked me up and headed back to the Humph house. Good to see Mom and Pops. It’s now 12:30. Time to meet people at the Oktoberfest. The first beer went down slow, but after watching Chad Johnson doing the chicken dance, the party must continue.Hung out with Jeff, Kevin and Ricky Merk. It was a beautiful day but was a bit chilly in the shade. We hung out and watched the Germans play music as we enjoyed our cocktails. Jeff and Kevin had to leave. Rick and I had the pleasure to hang it with my fri
ends Rosey and Shelly. It has been quite a while since I’ve seen both of them. We walked around had a few beers and enjoyed the music. When there is a “squeezebox” playing in the band it’s hard not to get the feet moving. Rosey and Shelly headed back home. Rick also had to head out. I met up with Rob and Lynn as well as my friends Darlene and Craig. It would the last time I will see Darlene and Craig in Cincinnati. They are moving to the Great State Florida. Jacksonville to be specific. They will be 45 min by air 4 ½ by land. It’s late….Headed home.Sunday morning “Who Dey”. Heading to Beil
Street in Covington. Hit the bar and I am tired. The first beer was tuff. But ordered up some food and ready to go. The Fat Man and George are with me to partake in the days activities. George is from Chicago and his son is very talkative in the morning…. It’s all good George. It was a gorgeous day. There was pure excitement in the air. I had a good feeling about the game but was still nervous playing Cleveland. It’s just like playing Pittsburg. You just never know the outcome. We had our fill at the bar and walked across the Suspension Bridge to opening day at Paul Brown Stadium. George did not go to the game. The Fat Man and I walked in and counted 11 beer guys en-route to our seats. Something you would never see in Cleveland. The National Anthem was sung by a Cincinnati Fire Fighter. I said to the Fat Man I was impressed. Normally, the men can not sing it as good as the ladies. It’s all in the voice and what it stands for. I look up at the big screen after the song is over. The Bengal Tiger swipes his paw at the Cleveland flag. The tiger rips the flag in four spots. Are you ready for some football? Not yet! I look up at the screen and again I see it coming at me. I point to the screen and tell the Fat Man “Here they come”! Three National Guard F-18’s are on their way to buzz the tower. We got our fly by Mr. Fat Man….. The rest is history. A “W” in the column. That is all….
